We’re still flying high above the clouds after last week’s announcement that DePoly has won the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Award! 🏆
DePoly has pioneered an innovative solution to tackle the PET plastic challenge the world is facing today. Through its technology, PET plastics are broken down back to their raw monomers, known as Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) and Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG). The process yields a product of virgin-grade quality, identical to oil-based counterparts. The PTA can then be used to produce recycled PET products, reducing the need for oil extraction to produce new plastic.
The Innovator Communities are a group of the world’s most promising start-ups and scale-ups at the forefront of technological and business model innovation. Comprising three sub-communities – the Technology Pioneers, Global Innovators and Unicorns – the Innovator Communities accompany start-ups along their growth journey. The World Economic Forum provides the sub-communities with a platform to engage with public- and private-sector leaders and to contribute new solutions to overcome current crises and build future resiliency. Companies invited to join the Innovator Communities will engage with one or more of the Forum’s centers, as relevant, to help define the global agenda on critical issues.
“We are thrilled to be named alongside this year’s cohort of Technology Pioneers by the World Economic Forum. This program will enable us to further develop our network, key partnerships and work hand in hand within our community center towards a better future for the generations to come.” Said Dr. Samantha Anderson, CEO and co-founder of DePoly.
About DePoly:
Dr. Samantha Anderson, Dr. Bardiya Valizadeh and Dr. Christopher Ireland co-founded DePoly in 2020. DePoly’s technology recycles unsorted, dirty PET waste into virgin-grade raw materials. Those PET precursors, PTA and MEG, are used by the industry to produce new plastics without the need for fossil fuels, while diverting valuable materials from landfills and incineration.
About the Technology Pioneers:
The Technology Pioneer community is composed of early-stage start-ups from around the world involved in the development and deployment of new technologies and innovations. The World Economic Forum selects 100 companies annually to work with society's foremost political, business and cultural leaders to address issues facing people and the planet.
